Sunita grew up on the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago before moving to Australia with her family in 1995. She completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Wollongong in 2000 and worked in the IT service industry before making the change to law completing a Bachelor of Laws and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Wollongong in 2010. Sunita was admitted to the New South Wales Supreme Court in 2010 and the High Court of Australia in 2015. Sunita has worked in the UK and Australia for large city firms, small country practices, community legal organisations and Legal Aid. Her main area of practice is now family law but previously she practised as a general lawyer in residential conveyancing, criminal, wills and estates and civil law areas.
Sunita moved to Queensland with her husband and two daughters in 2021 and is enjoying all that the sunshine state has to offer, especially the weather!
Sunita is a down to earth and approachable lawyer who believes that building trust and communication is key to helping clients navigate the emotional rollercoaster of family law with empathy and respect.
