Allan Lonergan

Allan joined South Geldard Lawyers in 2024 as a Director and is based in our Brisbane office.

With more than 20 years’ experience in property law and dispute resolution, Allan brings a unique perspective to his work, having worked at top tier law firms, the Queensland Bar, and as General Counsel and Company Secretary of Racing Queensland, where he advised on a range of regulatory, governance and commercial matters.

Allan has developed a commercial disputes practice and has extensive expertise in:

• statutory land valuation matters
• compulsory acquisition
• resumption and compensation matters
• mining land access and compensation matters
• disputes relating to the sale and purchase of land

Allan has appeared in various courts and tribunals, including the Queensland Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, District Court, Planning and Environment Court, Magistrates Court, Land Court and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

In the 2021 to 2025 editions of The Best Lawyers in Australia, Allan is listed for his expertise in Land Use and Zoning Law.

Allan grew up in Townsville before completing his studies in Brisbane. He has a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws and was admitted as a solicitor in 2004 in both the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

Allan is married with four children. In his spare time he enjoys running, spending time with family, and visiting the family farm to check cattle, ensuring his boots see a credible amount of dirt.
